Who Our Driving Assessments and Training Serve
For the most part, we test two groups: seniors and/or people with various health issues. In fact, our clients are often adults whose health and/or abilities may have changed. Other times, our clients were born with a disability.
In all cases, the circumstances have made driving challenging—or concerning.
Driving Assessments for Seniors
For families and loved ones of seniors, Driver Rehab Solutions provides peace of mind, because we lift the burden of decision-making off children, loved ones, and/or the seniors themselves. Often, they are worried about the senior’s ability to drive safely.
Driving Assessments for People with Disabilities
For those of any age with disabilities that may impact the ability to drive, our services can often change lives, leading to greater independence.

Driving Assessments by a Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist (CDRS)
Driver Rehab Solutions Owner, Kimberly Woulfe, OTR/L, CDRS, and her team members can come to you to provide a two-part driving assessment. The total assessment takes up to 3 hours, and each part can take place on the same day.
The Clinical Evaluation
The first part of the assessment is a clinical evaluation. In plain language, we look at your:
- Eyesight
- Interpretations and insights
- Thinking skills, thought processes, and judgment
- Ability to move with certainty
The fancy medical words for these factors are vision, perception, cognition, and motor function. From this evaluation, we’re able to make recommendations designed to maximize your independence AND safe driving, if possible.
The Behind-the-Wheel Evaluation
After the clinical evaluation, the second part of the assessment is the behind-the-wheel evaluation. You do not need your car, van, or truck for this, because we have the one you’ll use for the test.
Our testing vehicles can include a sedan or van. Both are able to be outfitted with special adaptive driving equipment. This equipment might include hand controls, left foot controls, steering knobs, special mirrors, and other devices used to help seniors and people with disabilities remain independent…and drive SAFELY.
After this part of the clinical driving assessment, we are able to make recommendations about your ability to safely drive, if you need any specialized equipment to do so. We also work with the State licensing agencies to ensure driving laws are followed.
Driver Training With Adaptations: Giving People Freedom
After the two-part evaluation, we may determine that you need additional driving skills or training with adaptive equipment. If so, we’ll use our vehicle to start the training needed to drive safely and/or adapt to new controls or devices. This helps to ensure your comfort level and safety.
